This page explains how SAVED guides are made, so that you can judge how much to rely on them.

Written by people

Every guide on SAVED is written by a member of our editorial team. We do not publish automatically generated articles, spun content or text copied from other websites. Each guide is planned around a real question a household faces — "How do I lower my heating bill?", "Is this second-hand bike safe?" — and answers it as completely and plainly as we can.

Research and sources

We base guides on reliable, checkable sources: government consumer, energy-efficiency and food-safety agencies; manufacturers' manuals; recognised safety organisations; and long practical experience of cooking, cleaning and repairing. Where figures are given — for example the energy use of an appliance — we explain where they come from and that your own figures will vary. We avoid sensational claims, invented statistics and promises of specific savings.

Review

Before publication, a second editor reads each guide for accuracy, clarity, safety warnings and balance. Guides that touch on money owed, legal rights or hazardous work receive extra attention so that the limits of general information are clear.

Updates and corrections

We review guides regularly and when readers report a problem. When we make a significant correction, we update the page and its revision date. You can report an error at any time through our contact page.

Independence

We do not accept payment, free products or other benefits in exchange for coverage, and we do not publish sponsored posts or paid links. Advertising is provided by Google AdSense; advertisers have no influence over what we write, and ads are visually separate from editorial content.

Tone

We write for adults managing real households, often under pressure. We try to be respectful and non-judgemental: there is no single right way to live frugally, and saving money should never come at the cost of safety, health or dignity.
